This illustration is obviously very much influenced by vintage children's illustration, which I have a special love affair with.  I fought drawing normal little girls for a very long time, making them with large heads and eyes or other delightfuly distorted proportions, but I'm falling more in love with little girls who looks like they could walk right off the page! 

This is actually the first in a series of illustrations I plan to do each month so you'll see a few more of these to add to your collection!

Ah The Quiet

You know, as wonderful as my Christmas was, I am very happy to be getting back to my quiet little existence.  It was a whirlwind of family and friends and lovely little gifts but alas I am a hermit; if it were up to me I probably wouldn't ever leave my apartment, a safe little coccoon filled with my favorite things/person. 

So after arriving back home after an entire day of visiting and gifting, I snuggled down into my favorite chair with my laptop to browse some vintage illustrations, a newly discovered love of mine.  And here live a couple of my favorite new resources for vintage children's illustration, browse and enjoy:
